How can I stay ahead of the mold that forms in the window sill..
l live in an apartment in a cold reagon (Alaska) and my landlord will not
upgrade the windows. They sweat in the winter and the condisation quickly
turns to mold.
Clean the windowsill with a bleach concentrate, then spray with
lyson - both will help kill mold.
Invest in a good de-humidifier and use it!
You may still need to take a clean cloth and wipe down the sill daily just
to help keep it dry.
try washing the window sill with 'diluted' bleach. bleach helps
to kill the spores
You will need to seal the windows - I am guessing they're
aluminum or steel frames -those are the worst for that! They sell a
plastic film that you place over the entire window & then use a hair dryer
to ''shrink'' into place & seal it. You can get it at home depot or any
decent hardware store in the insulation aisle, or check for them online.
You won't be able to open the window until you remove the plastic, but you
probably won't want to that time of year anyways. invest in a dehumidifier .Mold means you have too much moister
in your house.I would say get an exuast fan but you live in alaska and you
probably want to keep as muh heat in as possible.
If it is black mold than you need to move immediately!!! Black
mold can be FATAL!!!!
